From the weekly National Catholic Register comes an article from Father Dwight Longnecker entitled Are Witches Real? The good father enlightens us by writing that witches are indeed real and that commercialism of witches is only used to make people think that they are not real.

All in all, I found Father Longnecker’s article to be about the same in covering the topics of witches and paganism. He lumps paganism and witchcraft together and calls all who are into such things as followers of Wicca, something that is not factual at all. He also mentions Crowley and Gardner which interested me as there are some in the Pagan community as a whole who may know who Gardner is but have no idea as to the Crowley Gardner connection.

Father Longnecker reports that pagan worshipers are really demon-possessed because the gods and goddesses being worshipped are demons. He goes on to state that, “Followers of Wicca are not benevolent New Agers who just happen to be vegetarian, sandal-wearing bearded weirdoes. Their religion follows ancient rites where they summon up the ancient gods and goddesses.”

The best part for me that really provided the Ha-Ha, was Father Longnecker’s solution to dealing with pagans and that is too: “Instead, when confronted with those who have given themselves to evil, I recommend skipping meals on Fridays, praying a few extra Rosaries, and invoking the holy angels — especially St. Michael. It will not only bring down the witches in full flight — it will also do your spiritual life a world of good.”

Yep, after explaining in his article that baptism was created as a form of exorcism to convert pagans he follows up with fasting and prayer as the best way to “bring down the witches”.

Seriously, I’m not kidding that’s really what he wrote. Go check out his article and have a laugh.

I guess the good father doesn’t know the LBRP that many of us use and that it invokes Michael…
